An Alamo man is facing human smuggling charges after being arrested at a Border Patrol checkpoint in Falfurrias.
Guillermon Escalante-Valdez was taken into custody on Tuesday after 26 people were found hiding inside a false compartment in a trailer filled with pallets of mulch.
Two Mexican nationals were also arrested for conspiracy to harbor people in the country illegally. They will appear in federal court for a detention hearing on Monday.
