Brownsville is moving closer to de-annexing a parcel of land owned by SpaceX. The city commission approved a first reading of the de-annexing proposal last week, and will hold another vote on Saturday. SpaceX has reportedly requested the de-annexation because of a lack of city services.
The 444-acre parcel is near the Port of Brownsville and close to property being developed by a SpaceX supplier. The company has not said how it will use the land, saying only that it will not be used for rocket testing or launches.
