Families who applied to enroll in Texas’ school voucher program are starting to get the word. Acting Comptroller Kelly Hancock’s office started notifying parents on Wednesday whether they’ll participate in the program.

Hancock says more than 42 thousand students in the first-priority tier will receive award notices between now and Friday.

The comptroller’s office will conduct a lottery next week to determine which students in the second-priority tier will receive award notices. The tiers are defined by income levels.
