Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has announced an investigation into an energy drink company linked to a South Texas teen’s death.

Paxton announced the investigation into Celsius Holdings yesterday. The attorney general said the October death of Weslaco High School student Larissa Rodriguez led to his decision to investigate. The 17-year-old reportedly died from an enlarged heart tied to excessive consumption of a drink called Alani Nu.

Paxton said he wants to determine whether teens are being misled about dangerous levels of caffeine in energy drinks produced by Celsius Holdings.
