The Secret Service plans to use a fleet of high-tech drones to help provide security today and Thursday during the GOP Midterm Convention in downtown Dallas.

The agency has been using drones since the 2024 assassination attempt on President Donald Trump in Pennsylvania.

The drones can intercept communication between civilian drones and their operators, and can pinpoint the operator’s location. They’ll be flying over the American Airlines Center, where the GOP event is taking place, and across downtown Dallas and the surrounding area.
