A South Texas bridge is celebrating its 100th birthday. Dignitaries gathered at the McAllen-Hidalgo International Bridge on Friday to talk about its impact on the city and the region.

McAllen Mayor Javier Villalobos said the bridge has fostered strong relationships on both sides of the border while also serving as a cornerstone of regional growth.

The mayors of the Mexican cities of Hidalgo and Reynosa also spoke, saying the bridge has helped strengthen binational cooperation, especially during challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic.
