A federal committee could vote to change the name of Boca Chica Beach. The Domestic Names Committee of the U.S. Board on Geographic Names will consider the change during a meeting today.
Someone from out of state has reportedly suggested that the beach be renamed “Cyber Beach” as a tribute to Tesla’s Cybertruck.
State Representative Erin Gamez, Brownsville Mayor John Cowen and the Cameron County Commissioners Court have all registered their opposition to the name change.
