Mission is about to address some critical infrastructure needs. Mayor Norie Gonzalez Garza announced some of those plans during yesterday’s State of the City address.

The city is teaming with Castro and Bryan Elementary schools to build drainage holding ponds to help alleviate flooding in the area. The city wants to expand its Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone to include all of downtown.

The city is also expecting around a million dollars in federal funding to help build a new animal shelter.
